The right setup for his Jeep

Ride quality. Handling. Everyday drivability.

Mr. Scott made the drive from Caldwell, Texas, to College Station with his 2022 Jeep Gladiator Willys 3.6L looking for the right combination of ride quality, handling, appearance and everyday drivability.

It was time for tires, he wanted a little more height, and he wanted the Gladiator to look more aggressive — but he didn’t want to sacrifice how it drove.

Instead of simply adding a spacer lift, we went with a Bilstein Shock Absorbers suspension package featuring upgraded front coil springs, Bilstein 5100 shocks at all four corners, longer sway-bar links, bump-stop extensions and the supporting components to make the package work together.

We kept his factory 17-inch wheels and stepped up to 285/75R17 Toyo Tires Open Country R/T Trails. At roughly 34 inches tall, they fill the wheel wells perfectly with zero rubbing and, just as importantly to Mr. Scott, stay tucked underneath the factory fender flares.

No tire hanging way outside the body. No overdone stance. Just a clean, proportional Gladiator with a much more aggressive look.

The R/T Trails were also a great fit because he wanted the aggressive appearance without adding a bunch of unwanted highway noise.

We finished it off with RealTruck N-Fab RS Series tubular steps for a clean, tighter-to-the-body look.

Using a Superchips programmer, we also corrected the speedometer for the larger tires, lowered the TPMS threshold to 32 PSI, and disabled the factory Auto Start-Stop.

Mr. Scott was extremely pleased with the ride, handling, tire noise and overall look of the Gladiator.

We really appreciate him making the drive from Caldwell and trusting Aggieland Off-Road to help put together the right setup for how he actually uses his Jeep.
